Since its founding in 1983, the Golden State Ferret Society has been meeting and rallying for ferret and citizen’s rights. Made up entirely of volunteers, the group is committed to educating the public, spreading awareness, and driving change within the state of California regarding the perception of the domestic ferret.
One of our main goals is to raise money for medical treatment and transportation for the ferrets we rescue. Most of the ferrets that come to us are in very poor health (both physically and mentally), and require substantial care before they can be transported out of the state. Even the smallest donation can help a ferret in need.

We pride ourselves on fostering an inclusive and fun culture for our members and guests alike, be they human or fuzzy.
Monthly Meetings
All meetings are typically held at 6:00 PM on the first Tuesday of each month in San Leandro, CA. Please be aware that our meetings often fluctuate based on member availability, so if you’re interested in joining us for a meeting, send us a note and let us know! We are happy to welcome all interested folks — you do not have to be a member to come to meetings! And if you want to meet before our next meeting, we’re happy to arrange a separate date/time.
